A man is in hospital after a kitchen fire at a west-end high-rise on Sunday.
Neighbours inside the building at 85 Walnut St. called 911 after spotting smoke coming out from a second-floor unit around 11:45 a.m.
"Fire crews had to force entry on the door, the door was locked," said Platoon Chief Shawn Fitzgerald. "When they made entry there was heavy smoke in the apartment and crews located the occupant unconscious."
Firefighters removed the man from the unit and revived him using CPR before he was rushed to hospital by paramedics.
The small fire was extinguished without difficulty. The damage was contained to a single unit.
"The fire investigator is investigating. There has been no conclusion on cause of fire or dollar loss," Fitzgerald added.
The building is operated by London Middlesex Community Housing.
