A barn fire near Tillsonburg that claimed the lives of thousands of pigs and caused an estimated $10 million damage has been deemed non-suspicious.
Provincial police said on Monday they will not be conducting an investigation into the devastating blaze at a Hawkins Road sow barn.
The fire broke out around 5 a.m. on Saturday and required crews from South-West Oxford Fire, Norwich Fire, Tillsonburg Fire, Malahide Fire, and Bayham Fire to extinguish. Heavy smoke poured into the air and could be seen from several kilometres away.
Oxford OPP closed Hawkins Road between Culloden Line and Dereham Line while crews battled the blaze. It was reopened Saturday afternoon.
Roughly 6,000 pigs perished in the blaze.
The exact cause of the fire has not been released.
