One person was taken to hospital after being pulled from a burning auto body shop in east London.
Fire crews were called after a neighbour noticed flames coming from the commercial building at 1122 Brydges St., east of Egerton Street around 6:30 a.m. on Thursday.
"Upon our arrival we were able to establish that the flames were coming out the side of the building. Our crews made entry and were able to knock the fire down," said Platoon Chief Colin Shewell.
Firefighters searching the building found a 46-year-old man on the second floor. He was treated by paramedics on scene before being taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police say he is in critical condition.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation. Damage has been estimate at $100,000.
"Our fire inspector will be on scene for most of the day due to the seriousness of finding an individual in or around the fire area," said Shewell. "We will be holding the scene and working with our partners at the London Police Service."
The Ontario Fire Marshal will also be on scene Thursday.
