Two charged after woman forced into sex trade

Two people are facing charges after a woman claimed she was forced into the sex trade.

London police said they received a 9-1-1 call around 11 p.m. on Friday, February 28 about a woman who said she was being held against her will at a rental property downtown. When police arrived, the victim was threatened by a woman who was holding a knife. Officers were able to get the victim out of the home before taking a man and woman into custody.

Investigators determined that the woman had been forced to perform sex acts for money in hotels and rental properties across London and in other cities between February 25 and February 28.

"On February 26, 2020, the victim was assaulted by a male when money was not provided to him. The victim sustained minor injuries," police said in a news release issued Thursday.

Kimani Welcome, 32, and Chrystal Eisan, 27, of London are each charged with getting material benefit from sexual services, procuring to provide sexual services, trafficking in persons by exercising control, advertising another person's sexual services, and forcible confinement.

Eisan is also charged with assault with a weapon.
