A charge of manslaughter has been laid in connection with London's first homicide of 2020.
Police and ambulance crews were called to an apartment at a public housing complex at 580 Dundas St. late Tuesday afternoon for a report of a gunshot. When they arrived, they found 16-year-old Owen Nicholas Serieska suffering from a gunshot wound. He was later pronounced dead.
Officers took a man into custody and announced on Wednesday that 19-year-old Jesse Joseph Winstanley is charged with manslaughter. Police said the victim and suspect knew each other, and that a firearm was recovered.
Winstanley is to appear in court Wednesday.
