London police are asking for the public's help finding a man accused of scamming multiple people out of cash in mall parking lots and apartment buildings throughout the city.
In each of the cases, a man approaches a stranger and asks for money to pay for towing. The man promises to repay the individual through an e-transfer, but once the money is received the man cuts off all communication and does not return the cash.
A photo of the suspect was released by police on Friday. The man is described as Caucasian, approximately 25-40 years of age, approximately 5’11”, 140 lbs, with a slim build and dark-coloured hair.
Several people have gone to police to report being duped by the suspect and investigators believe there may be more victims in the city. They are advising the public not to provide money to strangers under these circumstances.
Anyone who may have information related to this case is asked to call the police Financial Crime Unit at 519-661-5515, extension 5257 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
