Downtown intersection closed for emergency sewer work

Emergency sewer repairs have forced the closure of a downtown intersection.

King Street at Clarence Street closed in all directions as of Wednesday and will remain inaccessible to all vehicles until Saturday.

The King Street bike lane may also be affected by the sewer work, city officials said.

Both drivers and cyclists can detour around the construction with those heading east on King Street advised to switched to York Street or Dundas Street in order to avoid the new spot on King, as well as road work on Richmond and Talbot streets. Those heading south on streets west of Wellington Street will be able to turn left and use Dundas Place.

Pedestrians are still allowed to pass through the area, but are reminded to follow the posted signage.

All businesses, including the Covent Garden Market, will remain open during the emergency maintenance work.
