Heavy rain expected Thursday night

Residents of the London area are in for a soggy end to the week.

Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement as a significant amount of rain is likely to begin falling on Thursday night. The statement covers London, Middlesex County, Elgin County, Oxford County, Lambton County, Huron County, and Perth County.

"Total rainfall amounts of 30 to 50 mm are possible by Friday morning," the statement said. "Some localities might see higher amounts with thunderstorms."

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for Chatham-Kent and Essex County.
