A St. Thomas man is accused of having three times the legal limit of alcohol in his system while behind the wheel of a go-kart that was speeding down a city street.
St. Thomas police were called about a go-kart being driven erratically on the Highway 3 bypass around 12:15 a.m. on Saturday. The machine was being driven at a high rate of speed and did not have any lights. The driver was said to be wearing a black cowboy hat instead of a helmet, police said.
Officers found the go-kart stopped in the southbound lane of Centennial Avenue.
A 21-year-old man was arrested for driving with a blood alcohol concentration of over 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.
He has since been charged and released with a future court date.
