A London police officer accused of assaulting a woman while off-duty is now facing more charges.
The officer, whose name has not been released the protect the identity of the victim, was placed on administrative leave earlier this month after he was charged with assault. He is now charged with criminal harassment and assault causing bodily harm and has been suspended from duty.
Police announced on June 1 that the officer was charged after an allegation was made that a woman with whom he had been in a relationship was assaulted between November of 2018 and February of 2019.
The officer has been with the London Police Service for 16 years. He is to appear in court August 20.
“As this matter is before the courts, the London Police Service will not comment further,” police said.
