Unconscious driver crashes vehicle after choking on fast food

A driver in Norfolk County found out the hard way that eating fast food while driving a fast-moving vehicle may not be the best combination.

The Ontario Provincial Police said on Saturday shortly before 4:34 p.m., a vehicle was travelling east on Highway 3 between Culver Road and Blueline Road in Norfolk County when the driver began to choke on food that had just been purchased from a local business.

The driver was rendered unconscious and the vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic where it narrowly missed colliding with another vehicle. The unconscious driver's vehicle then left the road, struck a hydro pole, and rolled over before sliding into a chainlink fence.

The driver was able to exit the vehicle and did not suffer any serious injuries.

Police said the collision remains under investigation.
