Accused impaired driver faces additional charge in fatal crash

Another charge has been laid against the woman accused of impaired driving in a crash that claimed the life of an eight-year-old girl north of Strathroy.

Middlesex OPP announced the charge after determining a second person hurt in the collision last Friday at Egremont Drive and Hickory Drive in Adelaide-Metcalfe required further medical care.

Alicia Van Bree, 33, of Strathroy now faces a charge of operation of a vehicle causing bodily harm. That is in addition to two other offences -- impaired driving and operation of a motor vehicle causing death.

Bree was arrested at the scene after the vehicle she was driving collided with another vehicle just before 10 p.m. Four people were taken to hospital, including eight-year-old Nihal Toor, who later died from her injuries.

A funeral for Toor was held on Monday.

Bree has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in London court in relation to the charges on August 27.
