Mischievous pups accidentally spark west-end apartment fire

A sprinkler system is being credited with keeping two dogs safe from an apartment fire in west London.

Firefighters were called to the building at 320 Sugar Creek Trail Thursday afternoon after fire broke out inside one of the units.

No one was home at the time, but two dogs were rescued from the apartment.

"Thanks to residential sprinklers these dogs were saved," London fire officials tweeted.

An investigation determined the mischievous pets were behind the blaze. The pair had chewed through a rechargeable battery pack which then burned through a mattress.

Damage is estimated at $25,000.
