Public health officials in London-Middlesex and Elgin and Oxford counties are reporting a combined ten new COVID-19 cases.
The Middlesex London Health Unit said on Monday three more people tested positive for the virus in the area. That follows a weekend in which five more cases were confirmed - three on Saturday and two on Sunday.
The region's total number of laboratory-confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic has now increased to 667.
An outbreak of the virus on the child and adolescent mental health unit at Victoria Hospital, which was confirmed at the end of last week, is London and Middlesex County's only active outbreak.
There were no new recoveries reported over the last 24 hours, leaving the number of resolved cases at 582.
The death toll is unchanged at 57, with no COVID-19 related deaths in the area since June 12.
Elgin and Oxford counties are reporting their largest single day jump in new cases since the start of the outbreak.
Southwestern Public Health, the region's health unit, said there were seven new confirmed cases on Monday. Up until this point, the two counties have only ever reported six or fewer new cases in one day. The new cases bring the area's total case count to 112. The number of resolved cases remained at 82. The death toll is five, with no additional deaths related to the virus reported since July 3.
Provincially, there was another slight drop in the number of new COVID-19 cases.
Ontario recorded 119 new cases on Monday. This is the third day in a row the number of new infections reported in a single day was under 150. There were 138 confirmed cases on Saturday and 137 on Sunday.
All but four of the province's 34 health units reported five or fewer cases.
"16 of them reporting no new cases. Windsor-Essex is reporting 40 new cases with another 28 in Ottawa," Health Minister Christine Elliott tweeted.
She also noted the concerning trend of younger individuals contracting the virus.
"76 of today’s cases, or 64%, are under the age of 40," said Elliott. "Yesterday, Ontario processed nearly 25,000 #COVID19 tests."
The total number of cases in Ontario since the start of the year now sits at 38,799.
There was just one new death related to the virus reported over the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 2,764.
The number of people who have recovered from COVID-19 in Ontario has risen to 34,461.
