Shovel used to smash door in St. Thomas break-in

A woman accused of using a shovel to bust into a home in St. Thomas is now facing charges.

St. Thomas police were called about the break and enter to a home on Alma Street just after midnight on Friday. A witness told police a woman had broken into the house by smashing the front door with a shovel and that the resident had not given anyone permission to be inside.

When officers arrived on scene the interior lights to the home were on, but were quickly switched off. With permission from the homeowner, who was not at home at the time, officers went inside and arrested a woman.

A 39-year-old St. Thomas woman, currently on probation, is charged with break and enter.
