Southwestern Ontario companies ink deal to craft cannabis-infused wine

A Strathroy-based cannabis company and a Harrow winery have teamed up to produce a new cannabis-infused wine.

Colio Estate Wines, the company behind the 'Girls' Night Out' brand, and Eve and Co., a female-focused cannabis company, announced on Thursday they have signed a three-year license agreement to develop a premium cannabis-infused wine-based beverage.

“We are very excited to be working with Colio and the tremendous team behind the Girls’ Night Out brand," Eve & Co. President and CEO Melinda Rombouts said in a statement. "The combination of Colio’s expertise with our high-quality cannabis extract allows us to provide consumers with a new cannabis-infused beverage which aligns very well with our female-oriented vision."

A subsidiary of NMC, Eve & Co. is a licenced producer of dried cannabis, cannabis plants, and cannabis oil. It operates a 1,000,000 square foot greenhouse in Strathroy. Colio was established 40 years ago in the heart of the Essex / Pelee Island Coast wine country. Its wines are available at the LCBO.

Jim Clark, President and CEO of Colio noted that the new cannabis-infused beverage would "build on the success of the Girls’ Night Out brand" while "satisfying the tastes and palates of female wine aficionados or connoisseurs."

The cannabis-infused wine beverage is expected to hit the market by the end of the year.
