There was remorse from a robber in St. Thomas who broke into a home, stole liquor and jewellery, and damaged the kitchen.
The residents of the home on Devonshire Place returned from a weekend getaway on Sunday to find the place had been broken in to. The intruder had gotten into the house through a main floor bathroom window. The home reeked of pot and the kitchen was damaged, according to St. Thomas police.
Several bottles of alcohol and some jewellery had been taken during the break-in.
But it was what was left behind that was truly unexpected.
The thief, who had also forgotten some clothing, had placed a letter of apology on the kitchen counter before taking off.
"The author was known to the homeowners," police said.
The investigation is ongoing.
