Diners who went to a Richmond Row restaurant last Monday are being urged to keep an eye out for symptoms of COVID-19.
The Middlesex London Health Unit announced Friday afternoon that it had been notified that a person who tested positive for the virus was at the El Furniture Warehouse restaurant between 12 a.m. and 2 a.m. on Monday, September 7.
The health unit said, while the risk to other patrons who were in the restaurant at that time is low, it wants anyone who was there at that time to monitor themselves for symptoms. Anyone who shows symptoms is advised to get tested at one of the health unit's assessment centres.
"We are on the verge of a gathering storm of conditions that could lead to increased transmission of COVID-19. Now is not the time to let our guard down," Medical Officer of Health Dr. Chris Mackie said in a statement released Friday.
With post-secondary students returning to the city, there is the temptation to hold more social gatherings, according to Associate Medical Officer of Health Dr. Alex Summers. He said the importance of adhering to public health guidelines cannot be underestimated.
