Knife-wielding man damages police cruiser

Charges have been laid after a man allegedly yelled at and swung a knife at customers of a north London fast food restaurant before damaging a police cruiser.

London police were called to 1103 Adelaide St. N near Huron Street around 1:45 p.m. on Monday about a man shouting at people in the parking lot. The man approached one vehicle in particular and began yelling at the driver before pulling out a knife and swinging it around, police said.

Officers arrested a suspect as he tried to leave the area on a bicycle.

A prohibited knife was seized during the arrest.

Once in the back of a police cruiser, the suspect is alleged to have kicked and damaged the rear window of the vehicle.

No injuries were reported.

A 43-year-old London man is charged with mischief under $5,000, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon, and failure to comply with release order. The man is scheduled to appear in London court in relation to the charges on Tuesday.
