The City of London is opening up more in-person services that were shuttered in March due to COVID-19.
Starting Monday, child care, recreation, and social service supports, such as Ontario Works cheque pick-up, subsidized transit pass renewals and recreation registrations, can be done in-person. The services are being offered Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the front counter at the following locations:
Citi Plaza – Ontario Works, Housing, Homeless Prevention, Children’s Services and Parks & Recreation London East – Ontario Works Northland Mall – Ontario Works South London Community Centre – Ontario Works Westmount Shopping Centre – Ontario Works
In order to protect both staff and city residents, plexiglass has been installed at all front counters and signage advising of room maximums, distancing and traffic flow have been put in place. Additional staff will also be on-site to screen all visitors for COVID-19, clean high-touch surfaces, and ensure face masks are worn when needed.
Despite reopening the front counter services, city officials encourage those who can to continue to access services through phone, email, and virtually when possible. The in-person services are being reopened to assist those who have encountered challenges receiving services by alternative methods.
Not all services previously offered in-person are being offered at this time, the city said in a statement on Friday.
