Man charged after gun fired inside north London home

London police descended on a north London neighbourhood after gunshots were fired inside of a home on Monday night.

The shots rang out around 9:40 p.m. at a home on Stoneybrook Crescent, prompting a call to 911. London police officers arrived on scene and determined a man had fired a shotgun while inside with other people.

No one was hurt and all of the bystanders were able to get out of the house once police were on scene.

The man suspected of firing the weapon initially stayed inside the home. He exited and was arrested without incident around 10 p.m. after speaking with police negotiators.

A 49-year-old London man is charged with one count of careless use of a firearm.

All of the people who were inside the home at the time of the incident were known to each other and there was no threat to public safety, police said.
