Taser, meth seized after police stop plateless motorcycle

A Brampton man is facing drug and weapons charges after London police stopped a motorcycle that initially tried to outrun officers in the east end.

London police spotted a motorcycle without a licence plate heading south on Crumlin Sideroad around 5 a.m. on Sunday. When officers tried to stop the bike, the driver accelerated away from them heading west on Trafalgar Street.

A short time later, police found the motorcycle in a parking lot on Marconi Boulevard near Noel Avenue and arrested a man.

A search of the man turned up 28.9 grams of suspected methamphetamine and a taser, police said.

A 35-year-old man from Brampton is charged with five offences including unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon, possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, operating a vehicle while prohibited, failure to stop for police, and failure to comply with release order.

He is scheduled to appear in London court on December 18.
