Beginning this weekend, people seeking COVID-19 testing at the Carling Assessment Centre will be able to book an appointment online.
The centre will be moving to an online booking system, similar to the one at the Oakridge Assessment Centre, on Sunday, November 8. The first block of appointments that can be booked online will be Tuesday. The ticketing system currently in place will be discontinued.
Appointments can be booked by going to www.covidtestinglm.ca.
For people who do not have access to the internet, appointments can still be booked over the phone by calling 519-685-8500, extension 75503. Callers will be asked to leave a voicemail with their name, phone number, and the reason they require a test. Officials say the calls will be returned within two business days.
The Carling Assessment Centre is open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on weekends from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Testing is reserved for people who are showing symptoms of COVID-19, have been exposed to a confirmed case of the virus, have been alerted to an exposure through the COVID Alert App, live or work in a setting that has a COVID-19 outbreak, have no symptoms but require a test as an essential health worker or someone who will be visiting a long term care facility. Those who need a test in advance of international travel, a medical procedure, or cancer treatment are also eligible for testing, as are those who are part of a targeted testing initiative by the Ministry of Health.
