The Children’s Health Foundation is turning to Londoners for help landing a $100,000 donation through a Canada-wide contest.
The organization, which raises funds for London's Children’s Hospital, has been announced as one of 10 finalists in the iA Financial Group’s philanthropic contest 2020. The competition will see the Canadian insurance and wealth management group award three of the finalists $100,000 each, while the remaining seven charities will be given $10,000.
To win the six-figure prize, the Children’s Health Foundation is urging people to vote for its submission online.
"The pandemic has made it difficult for families at Children’s Hospital, but it has also made fundraising difficult. I am encouraging the community to take a moment and vote to help children and families in our community. $100,000 will ensure our families do not get left behind,” Scott Fortnum, president and CEO of the Children’s Health Foundation, said in a statement.
According to the foundation, winning the contest would help enhance its Paediatric Family Resource Centre which offers support to families and caregivers of sick children. The resource centre provides emotional and financial support. It has helped cover the cost of prescribed drugs for families who can't afford it and has trained staff families can lean on during stressful periods.
Voting for the philanthropic contest is open until November 30, with the winners expected to be announced on December 10.
