Section of Adelaide St. to be closed this weekend

For the second weekend in a row, drivers and cyclists will have to detour around rail work on the CP tracks on Adelaide Street North.

Starting at 6 a.m. Saturday, Adelaide will be closed between Central Avenue and Pall Mall Street. The arterial road won't reopen until approximately 11 p.m. on Sunday.

The closure is needed to complete a track realignment ahead of the Adelaide Street underpass construction project set to get underway next year, the City of London said in a statement.

Anyone heading to the nearby Carling Heights assessment centre for COVID-19 testing is being told to expect delays and allow extra time to get there over the weekend.

Detour signs will be in place to direct all road users around the work. Northbound drivers will be diverted onto King Street, then Ontario Street to Dundas Street to Highbury Avenue North to Oxford Street East. Southbound motorists will be detoured onto Oxford Street East and then Highbury Avenue North, to Dundas Street, to Quebec Street and to Queens Avenue.

The same stretch of Adelaide was closed to all drivers and cyclists last weekend.
