Police are investigating after a dog was found shot dead near a parking lot in Elgin County.
The Ontario Provincial Police said on Friday at around 9:20 p.m., an area hunter came across the recently deceased male German shepherd near Calton Swamp at 7698 Carter Rd. in Malahide Township. Police said the dog appeared to have suffered a .22 calibre gunshot wound.
The dog did not have an ID collar or tags.
