A London man is facing charges after $20,000 worth of cellphones and tablets were stolen during a break-in on Christmas Eve.
St. Thomas police were called to the Rogers Store on Talbot Street around 3 a.m. last Thursday after the store's alarm system was triggered. Officers arrived to find the front window had been smashed and thousands of dollars worth of electronics missing.
Police reviewed store surveillance footage and were able to provide a detailed description of a suspect to police in neighbouring jurisdictions . Through that footage, police determined the vehicle the suspect used to getaway from the scene was stolen with stolen licence plates.
The vehicle was later spotted in Elgin County and London before Woodstock police were able to arrest a suspect without incident, St. Thomas police said.
A 26-year-old London man is charged with one count of break and enter, four counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000, and breach of release conditions.
