Even though students have been off on the winter break for more than a week, positive COVID-19 cases are still being identified at London-area schools.
The Thames Valley District school board confirmed new infections Monday night at Glen Cairn public elementary and London Central secondary in London and Locke's public elementary in St. Thomas.
Middlesex London Health Unit and Southwestern Public Health officials are working to notify close contacts of the infected individuals.
"If you do not receive a letter from Thames Valley indicating the public health unit has identified your child as a close contact, your child is not considered to be at risk," the school board said in a statement. "Only those staff and students who have been identified as a close contact will be notified and advised to stay home from school and quarantine for a period of 14 days."
The latest cases come a day after the board confirmed infections at H.B. Beal secondary and White Oaks elementary in London.
There are currently 53 active COVID-19 cases within 31 Thames Valley district schools. A full list of confirmed cases can be found by clicking here.
