Fire in Woodstock sends one person to hospital

One person has been taken to hospital after a fire broke out at a building in downtown Woodstock.

The Woodstock Police Service reported the blaze at 488 Dundas Street shortly after 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

While police and fire officials have not released much information at this time, police said the person in hospital has suffered non-life threatening injuries.

A Woodstock transit bus was also brought to the area for residents who live in the building to seek shelter.

The cause of the fire and a damage estimate have not been released.

The public is asked to avoid the area while emergency crews are at the scene. Dundas Street has been closed between Wellington Street and Light Street.
