London police say three people are facing charges after a vehicle with stolen licence plates crashed into a cruiser.
According to police, around 12:30 p.m. Monday, officers saw a red Ford Focus that had stolen plates on it on Bonaventure Drive near Admiral Drive. When police tried to pull the vehicle over, it sped away. Police did not chase it, but gave a description of the vehicle to other officers in the area.
The car was then seen on Hamilton Road and another officer tried to stop it in the area of Ellsworth Close. Again, the driver took off. As he did, the Focus hit a police cruiser twice and went up on some lawns on the street.
The vehicle was eventually stopped in the area of Ellsworth Crescent and Ellsworth Close. Three people were taken into custody.
Officers searched the car and found four digital scales, just under 13 grams of suspected fentanyl, and $205 in cash.
Damage to the police cruiser is estimated at $10,000. No injuries were reported.
A 26-year-old London man, a 23-year-old London man, and a 33-year-old London woman are all charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking.
The 26-year-old is also charged with dangerous driving, failing to comply with a release order, failing to stop at the scene of an accident, driving while under suspension, using unauthorized plates, failing to stop for police, and driving without insurance.
