Hardware thieves pull knife on theft-officer, police say

Two Londoners are facing charges after a Loss Prevention Officer (LPO) was allegedly threatened with a knife inside a hardware store.

London police were called to the store on the Home Depot on Fanshawe Park Road and Adelaide Street after 3 p.m. Thursday.

Police say after the LPO saw a woman conceal items inside a bag, a man she was with approached the LPO, took out a knife and threatened the officer.

It's alleged the woman left the store without paying for the concealed items, and that when she was approached by the officer, she ran eastbound through the parking lot.

Police say both of the suspects were located and arrested without incident and that approximately $8,000 worth of property was recovered.

A 31-year-old London woman is charged with theft over $5,000 and failing to comply with an undertaking.

A 34-year-old London man is charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and assault with a weapon.

Both of the accused are set to appear in London court in May.
