Teen charged in fatal stabbing

London police say a 15-year-old is now charged in connection with the city's first homicide of 2021.

Officers were called to a home on Britannia Avenue near Edinburgh Street around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. When they arrived, they found a woman with stab wounds. She was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police later announced that the woman had died in hospital.

Police took a suspect into custody at the scene. On Wednesday afternoon, police said that a 15-year-old is now charged with second degree murder.

Because of his age, the teen's name cannot be released. Police are also not identifying the victim, as doing so might identify the suspect.

Police are still investigating the case and are asking anyone with information to call them at (519) 661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Information can also be sent in online anonymously to www.londoncrimestoppers.com.
