Woman charged in convenience store robbery

A London woman is facing charges after an armed robbery at a variety store.

Police say around 6:10 p.m. Thursday, a woman got out of a taxi and went into a store at the corner of Boullee Street and Cheapside Street. According to police, the woman told the clerk she had a gun and demanded money.

"When the employee did not immediately comply with the demands, the female suspect walked behind the counter and removed cash from the register, before re-entering the taxi waiting outside," police said.

Police say she then left the store, got back into the taxi, and threatened the driver with a knife while demanding that she be taken to the area of Cheapside and Barker streets.

Video surveillance footage from the store led to a suspect description, and an arrest was quickly made on Boullee Street.

A 36-year-old London woman is charged with armed robbery, uttering threats of death or bodily harm, assault with a weapon, and wearing a disguise with intent to commit a crime.
