Strathroy-Caradoc police are crediting a neighbour with helping a resident escape a burning home without injury on Thursday.
The blaze broke out at the home on Southfield Drive just before 9 p.m. It is believed to have started in the garage and then quickly spread to the house.
Upon seeing the flames, the neighbour sprung into action, police said. He called emergency crews and assisted the homeowner in getting out safely.
Police called the man's actions "heroic."
A dollar figure has not been attached to it, but the home was significantly damaged in the fire. Several family pets were also killed in the blaze.
The investigation into the cause is on-going.
