A Drumbo man is facing upgraded charges after the man he is accused of hitting with his vehicle died of his injuries.
Brandon Harmer, 26, was initially charged with failing to remain at the scene of an accident causing bodily harm, criminal negligence causing bodily harm, and theft under $5,000 after the April 24 incident at a gas station. It was alleged that Harmer was behind the wheel of a Hyundai SUV that tried to flee from the gas station on Highway 2 near John Street without paying. The SUV hit a 66-year-old man before leaving the scene.
The victim died of his injuries on May 5, according to police.
The charges against Harmer have since been upgraded to manslaughter, failing to remain at the scene of accident causing death, and theft under $5,000.
