A fire that trapped one person inside of a three storey home on Hamilton Road overnight has been deemed suspicious.
Firefighters were called to the burning home at 254 Hamilton Road just before midnight. When crews arrived on scene, they were met with heavy smoke and flames.
"There was a report of one individual that was trapped inside the house at the time," said Platoon Chief Gary Mosburger. "Our crews advanced for fire attack and search and rescue. They were able to make contact and rescue that individual from a first floor room. That individual was not harmed, did not sustain any injuries."
No one else was found inside.
Mosburger said the fire was brought under control within an hour of their arrival.
Damage is estimated at $150,000.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but London police said Tuesday the blaze has been "deemed to be suspicious in nature."
Officers with the police street crime unit, as well as a fire inspector and Ontario Fire Marshal investigator, are probing the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
