London police are searching for two suspects after a woman was seriously hurt during a carjacking in northeast London Wednesday afternoon.
At around 12:15 p.m., police were called to the area of William and Cheapside streets for a possible vehicle theft.
When officers arrived, a female victim, and owner of the stolen vehicle, was found in the roadway with injuries. Police determined the victim was hurt while trying to intervene.
The suspects later took off from the area, and the woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Cheapside Street was closed between William Street and Logan Avenue for several hours while police investigated the incident.
The stolen vehicle, a silver Jeep with a hard-top, was recovered just after midnight Thursday, after a citizen called police about a vehicle fire in a field near Sovereign Road.
Police say they are now searching for two suspects both described as Black males, in their late twenties and both standing at approximately 5'8". and one of the males was observed wearing a facial mask. Police added that one of the suspects was said to have been in possession of a handgun at the time of the robbery as well.
As of Thursday afternoon, the female victim remains in hospital in serious, but non-life threatening condition.
