A mishap with a fire pit north of Port Burwell has left a family of five, including three small children, with serious and life threatening injuries.
Emergency crews were called to the home on Vienna Line in the Municipality of Bayham just before 7 p.m. on Monday. An incident involving an outdoor fire pit left a seven-year-old girl, a four-year-old boy, and a one-year-old girl with life threatening injuries. A 33-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman suffered serious injuries.
All five were rushed to hospital for treatment.
Elgin OPP have not provided any details about what may have caused the mishap. They did confirm the five people hurt are related and live at the home.
