University Hospital appointments pushed due to downed AC

Some appointments scheduled at University Hospital are being moved around while it deals with a cooling system repair.

A release sent out by the London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) said starting Tuesday, some non-urgent appointments will be rescheduled while the hospital repairs one of the three chillers needed to properly cool the facility.

"We are working diligently to resolve the issue but expect it could take a minimum of 72 hours. Given high temperatures outside, we are taking necessary actions to ensure patient comfort," a release from LHSC read.

Patients affected by the scheduling changes will hear from their care team. Additionally, University Hospital is asking the public to delay non-urgent visits until the issue is resolved however, the emergency room remains open and safe for those in need of urgent care.

While a formal heat warning has not been issued for London-Middlesex by either Environment Canada or the health unit as of yet, daytime temperatures this week are expected to hover near 30 C with the humidity making things feel close to the 40 C mark.
