Accused in hit-and-run alleged to have four times legal limit alcohol in system

A driver accused of hitting another vehicle and taking off from the scene in Woodstock is alleged to have had four times the legal limit of alcohol in her system.

Woodstock police were called about the hit-and-run at the intersection of Hunter and Light streets just before 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. About half an hour later, police got another call about a vehicle matching the description of the one that left the crash site running a red light and swerving into oncoming traffic in the area of Vansittart Avenue and Lakeview Drive.

Officers were able to stop the vehicle without further incident.

A breath sample provided by the driver registered "well over four times the legal limit of 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood," police said.

A 26-year-old Stratford woman is charged with two counts of impaired driving.
