Man charged with vandalizing London courthouse, police station

Charges have been laid against a 36-year-old man after the London courthouse, police station, and a third building were vandalized.

Various words and messages were spray-painted on the three buildings early Tuesday morning, police said.

While it has not been disclosed what was written on the buildings, the London Free Press reports the names of two lawyers and the words "sexual assault dream team" were scrawled across the front entrance of the courthouse. One of the lawyers named was the defence counsel for 68-year-old Lawrence Thompson, the man convicted in May of abducting and sexually assaulting a young girl in 2018.

Police arrested a suspect in the case in the area of Oxford Street East and Mornington Avenue around 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The 36-year-old is charged with three counts of mischief under $5,000. He is scheduled to appear in London court on November 17.

The graffiti, which cost roughly $4,000 to remove, was cleaned from the buildings by Wednesday morning.
