A 36-year-old man has been charged and two young people are being sought after a targeted assault near downtown London that sent two men to hospital.
Emergency crews were called about the incident in the area of Wellington and Hill streets around 2:45 a.m. on Thursday. When they arrived they found two men with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. Both were taken to hospital for treatment.
A third person was later found suffering from minor injuries.
Three people took off from the scene before police arrived. An “edged weapon” was found at the scene, London police said. There are unconfirmed reports a machete was used in the attack, but police have not confirmed this.
A suspect was arrested just after 3 a.m. in the area of Oxford Street West and Wharncliffe Road North.
A London man, 36, is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, assault, breaking and entering, and three counts of possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking. He appeared in court in relation to the charges on Thursday.
Arrest warrants have been issued for two young people, who cannot be named because of their age, on charges of aggravated assault, assault, and breaking and entering.
Police have described the attack as "targeted" and have said investigators with the criminal investigation division continue to probe the circumstances of the assault.
