OHL suspends Knights' Mailloux indefinitely

Logan Mailloux won't be lacing up his skates for the London Knights anytime soon.

The Ontario Hockey League announced Thursday that it has suspended Mailloux "indefinitely" because of an incident in which he shared sexual photos of a woman in Sweden without her consent. The league said the incident "violated the League’s expectation of the appropriate conduct of an OHL player."

Mailloux sent teammates photos of a 18-year-old woman performing a sex act on him in November of 2020 while he was playing overseas.

He was playing for SK Lejon, with the OHL shutdown during the pandemic.

Mailloux was 17 at the time of the incident. The woman couldn’t be identified in the photos, but Mailloux also sent her Facebook profile to teammates shortly afterwards.

Despite the incident and the subsequent investigation, Mailloux completed the season with SK Lejon before returning to Canada. He paid a fine and the matter was no longer in the Swedish court system

"The player will have the opportunity to apply for reinstatement to the League on or after January 1, 2022," the OHL's statement said. "A decision regarding reinstatement will be based in part on his conduct since his return to Canada and the appropriate treatment, counselling, mentoring and or education he receives from the date of this decision."
