Charges have been laid against a 40-year-old Simcoe man in connection with the death of a teenage girl.
Norfolk OPP were called to the local hospital just before 9 p.m. on August 27 after paramedics brought in a 17-year-old girl from a home on Patterson Street in Simcoe. The girl was transferred to hospital in Hamilton where she was pronounced dead.
An autopsy has been completed, but further testing is being done by Ontario Forensic Pathology Services and the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario, police said.
The teen has been identified as Rachel Cook of Simcoe.
Derek Adams, 40, of Simcoe, is charged with drug trafficking and breach of probation. He is scheduled to appear in court in relation to the charges on Friday.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
