1.8 km holiday lights display coming to Longwoods Conservation Area

A new 1.8 kilometre festive lights display southwest of London is promising to get people into the holiday spirit, all from the safety of their vehicles.

The Magic of Lights display will be at the Longwoods Road Conservation Area from November 19 to January 2. The holiday drive-thru spectacular will feature themed light displays using the latest LED technology and digital animations. The displays will include a blizzard tunnel, 12 days of Christmas, winter wonderland, and toyland.

This is the first year the Magic of Lights display has come to the London-area. The conservation area is one of only three sites in Canada selected to host the event. Ottawa and Edmonton, Alberta are the other locations.

The drive-thru format comes as people remain hesitant to venture out to large, in-person gatherings because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Tickets to view the display range from $23 to $31 per vehicle with only a limited number available each evening. While some tickets will be sold at the gate, it is recommended those interested in attending the display purchase them online in advance.

A quantity of the money raised through ticket sales will go to support a local charity, according to display organizers Woodlo Productions and FunGuys Events .

"Giving back to the community is an integral part of Magic of Lights, and we are proud to be supporting United Way Elgin Middlesex this holiday season," said Kyla Woodcock, founder of Woodlo Productions Inc. "Join us in celebrating, spreading joy, and supporting our community."

Magic of Lights will be open nightly from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. throughout its six week run.
