Oxford OPP investigate fatal crash

Provincial police in Oxford County say a Woodstock man has died after a crash in Tavistock Township.

At around 4:30 p.m. Friday, the OPP were called about a single-vehicle crash on 16th Line in East Zorra-Tavistock Township. Police say emergency crews from Hickson and Oxford County arrived on scene where a vehicle was located off the road and the driver, and lone occupant, was found suffering from serious, life-threatening injuries.

Investigators determined the vehicle came off the road while the man was driving before it hit a tree.

Crews extricated the man from the vehicle and Ornge Air ambulance arrived to take him to hospital. Unfortunately the man, identified as 58-year-old Stewart Deller, did not survive his injuries and he died in hospital.

The scene of the crash was closed most of Friday evening while the Technical Collision Investigation team assisted and the area has since reopened.

No other details have been released.
