Overnight parking restrictions back in effect

Drivers wanting to leave their vehicle parked on the street overnight will once again need a special pass to do so.

As of Monday, the City of London's overnight parking pass program returns. It requires residents and visitors to the city to register for a free overnight parking pass in order to leave their vehicle on the street between 3 a.m. to 5 a.m. The city will issue up to 15 passes per license plate between November 1 and April 30.

Vehicles without a valid parking pass could be ticketed.

The parking passes can be obtained online anytime of day or by calling 519-661-4537 from Monday to Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. Commercial vehicles, trailers, recreational vehicles or oversized vehicles are not eligible for an overnight parking pass.

The passes are not valid when significant snowfall is expected.

"If a snow event is forecast, a message will be posted on the city’s overnight parking registry, and passes will not be valid during this time," city officials said.

Anyone seeking more information about the program can call the city's parking enforcement office at 519-661-4537.
