New COVID-19 cases in the London area are back down in the single digits.
The Middlesex-London Health Unit is reporting seven new infections Sunday, down from 12 the previous day.
The number of active cases in the community, as of Sunday, is 90. No new deaths were reported. There hasn't been a death in the area since October 21, leaving the death toll unchanged at 246.
As of Friday, the London Health Sciences Centre said it is caring for five or fewer patients with COVID-19. The hospital uses the “five or fewer” figure when the number of patients gets low enough that giving an exact number might compromise patient privacy.
The Thames Valley District School announced on Saturday that cases had been identified at East Oxford Public School, Southside Public School and Wilberforce Public School.
Wilberforce has been closed since last Monday due to the high number of active cases. The TVDSB announced Friday that the school will re-open this Monday.
In Elgin and Oxford counties, 32 new COVID-19 cases were reported on Friday. That brings Southwestern Public Health’s total number of confirmed infections since the start of the pandemic to 4,779. No new deaths have been reported. There are 121 active cases in the two counties.
Across Ontario, 636 cases of COVID-19 were reported Sunday.
