Provincial police in Oxford County say one person is in custody after a crash in Zorra Township claimed the life of one person Tuesday afternoon.
Sometime around noon, emergency crews responded to a report of a collision on 15th Line just north of the town of Thamesford.
OPP say a person was located and taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. One hour later, police provided an update to the public stating the individual had succumbed to their injuries.
Investigators later deemed the incident a fatal hit-and-run crash. At around 6:30 p.m., officer's confirmed they had taken an individual into custody but did not specify if the person faces any charges as of yet.
15th Line is expected to remain closed between Road 74 and McCarty Street until later Tuesday night.
Police say the investigation is in the early stages and more information will be provided as it becomes available. No other details, including the victim's identity have been released.
