Several new COVID-19 cases linked with London-area schools

The London-area public school board reported four new COVID-19 around the region late Monday night.

The Thames Valley District School Board recorded the cases at Algonquin Public School in Woodstock, Kensal Park French Immersion Public School in London, Port Burwell Public School in Port Burwell and Westfield Public School in Tillsonburg.

All schools will remain open on Tuesday.

"If you do not receive a letter from Thames Valley indicating the public health unit has identified your child as a close contact, your child is not considered to be at risk," a release from the board read.

Those identified as a close contact of an infected staff or student will be notified and advised to stay home and isolate for 10 days.

The latest report adds to the steady growing number of COVID-19 cases identified at local schools. There are now 61 active cases within 30 local public schools. While the number of cases has increased, the number of schools reporting infections remains unchanged since Sunday.

A breakdown of all active and past cases can be found on the TVDSB website.
